The Salt & The Canvas

For as long as I can remember, the rhythm of my life has been dictated by the pull of the moon and the shifting line where the earth meets the sea.

With two decades spent as a coastal artist, my work is more than just a collection of scenes; it is a twenty-year conversation with the shoreline. I have spent my mornings chasing the silver light of a receding tide and my evenings documenting the bruised purples of a gathering storm.

"To paint the coast is to paint change itself."

My practice is rooted in the belief that the coast is a living, breathing thing—a place of constant transformation and raw, unpolished beauty. Over the last twenty years, my brushes have traced the jagged edges of limestone cliffs and the soft, repetitive curves of the dunes, seeking to capture not just the view, but the very feeling of the salt air on your skin.

Whether through the layered textures, or the sparkle of gold leaf, my goal remains the same:

to bring a piece of the coast home to you.

“Lucy’s highly recognisable style blends distinct oceanic shades across the canvas with great subtlety and skill and her play on light evokes a peaceful and idyllic perspective on coastal life with a strong sense of airy spaciousness”

My journey as a professional artist began shortly after graduating with a BA (Hons) in 2002. Over the following decade, my contemporary take on the sea was spotted by one of the UK’s leading Fine Art distributors, DeMontfort Fine Art, establishing my name within high-calibre galleries both nationally and internationally.

In 2020, I took the pivotal step to become a fully independent artist, launching my own fine art business to work more closely with my collectors. To ensure the highest quality for my print collections, I partnered with The Logical Choice Group in Newquay, Cornwall. This highly respected print specialist uses advanced 3D scanning technology to capture every nuance of my original paintings. This meticulous process ensures that my limited edition prints are truly museum-grade reproductions, retaining the depth, texture, and 'coastal calm' of the original canvas.

Capturing Your Coastal Moments

Art is most powerful when it tells a personal story. Beyond my curated collections, I specialise in bespoke commissions that transform your favourite beach into a timeless piece of fine art. My process is deeply collaborative; I often include loved ones as subtle characters playing in the surf or resting on the sand, turning a seascape into a cherished family heirloom.

Using a blend of traditional skill and contemporary perspective, I focus on the 'Coastal Calm'—that unique sense of space and tranquility found at the water's edge. Whether it is an original canvas or a museum-grade print, my goal is to bring the peace of the shoreline into your home, creating a daily connection to the places you love most.
